Sarfati & Associates

A European law firm

Engaged in banking, finance and international transactions
“The euro is the best thing going for Europe since the creation of the common market.”
Robert Mundell — Canadian Economist and Nobel Prize Winner

Today's world is global and practically all transactions are cross-border. For S&A, being a European law firm means that the European Union is our home jurisdiction — and the rest of the world our oyster.

We advise and assist clients based in the EU who invest within and outside the EU, as well as clients based outside the EU who invest in the EU.

Today's world is also local: it is essential to understand clients' constraints arising out of the jurisdiction(s) where they operate, which are often outside those where we are registered. Not only do we work closely with their local advisors but, just as importantly, we endeavour to understand local practices and cultural differences.

We are physically implanted in three major European jurisdictions and, all together, we are fluent in Dutch, English, French and German.

Our Offices

Three jurisdictions, one firm.

The Netherlands · Since 2010

The Netherlands

We have been established in The Netherlands since 2010, the same year S&A was founded. Shortly after founding S&A in France, a major Dutch pension fund hired our services to establish its managed-account platform.

We leveraged on this success to set up and implement, for our clients, Dutch-based securitisation and structured-product platforms.

Luxembourg · Since 2015

Luxembourg

We opened our Luxembourg office towards the end of 2015. It was a strategic decision to register with the Bar of Luxembourg, as Luxembourg was — at that time — one of the main financial centres in Continental Europe, and now, certainly the main financial centre in Europe.

Combined with our presence in The Netherlands, we are able to meet our clients' needs in the financial sector.

France · Founded 2010

France

Sarfati & Associates was founded in 2010 in France.

The rationale for founding S&A was — and still is — to make available to its clients, and more specifically SMEs and financial-service providers, the expertise acquired over 20 years in investment banking with Société Générale Capital Markets in Paris and then, in London, with ABN AMRO Structured Derivatives.

Our purpose is to provide the legal services and assistance the financial sector needs after the changes that occurred since 2010.
